Sorry I’ve been MIA recently, folks! With summer coming to an end and school starting up, I’ve been busy busy busy getting my house straight and curriculum set-up. Little Man will start Kindergarten next week and I’m really excited to get started.
After much consideration and discussion between my husband and I over the past 4 years, we’ve decided that homeschooling is the best option for us. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since Little Man was born and thanks to being a stay-at-home Mom now, I have the time to spend giving my son one-on-one attention. While I’m extremely nervous to take on such a big responsibility, I’m confident we’ll do a good job because it’s something we were already working on last year. I’ve looked into homeschooling numerous times over the past few years and both Daddy and I have homeschooling family members who are in the process of raising some of the most amazing children.
Like most homeschooling parents, my fear for Little Man is socialization. While homeschooling will definitely give him a strong educational structure, the last thing I want to do is make him socially awkward and friendless. That’s why I was so excited to find a local homeschooling coop that is constantly scheduling events for little ones and their parents to get together and play and learn. I’ve also got Little Man signed up for karate and cubbies sports which will give him exercise and interaction with other children his age.
So who else is starting school soon or just started? How did it go?
