A few days ago, I saw a post come across my Facebook news feed that included a picture of the United States with a few highlighted – including my own. I clicked on it to find that Amazon will begin charging certain states sales tax when they purchase from Amazon.com.
After doing a little research, I found the article that explained it all {Get Ready To Pay Sales Tax On Amazon from CNN}. Because I live in California, I hadn’t even realized that some states were getting charged a sales tax already to purchase items from Amazon! But started in September, I guess I should prepare to pay a little bit more when checking-out on Amazon.com.
What are your thoughts on this?
Personally, I’m not too bothered by the idea of being charged a sales tax from Amazon. Yes, it means I probably won’t be able to go through grabbing up cheap little items anymore so that my total goes over $25 and I get free Super Saver Shipping, but I think I’ll survive.
As it stands, the states already paying sales tax on Amazon.com are Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, Texas, and Washington.
