Our Dinosaur Adventure

Have you ever talked about checking out a local establishment, but for one reason or another you just never got around to it?  Well that’s how it was for us about the Robotic Dinosaurs & Museum.  We first learned about it last February, but kept coming up with excuses why we couldn’t {or didn’t want to} go.  Since we promised Little Man we’d take him, though, Daddy and I have felt really guilty about never actually doing it!

A couple weeks ago, I decided that enough was enough – no more excuses!  LOL With the weather being, well, not so pleasant, we’ve been cooped up in the house and going crazy!  We needed to get out and stretch our legs.  What better way to do that than by exploring one of Little Man’s top favorite things – dinosaurs?!

We packed up the car {including Grandma} and headed out – determined to have a good day, regardless of the high wind.  To start the adventure off right, we decided to try a new restaurant {okay fast-food joint}.  After a look around, we settled on Bakers.  It was pretty darn good!  The burgers Daddy and I got were tasty and Little Man ate his entire taco {plus fries}.  One thing I really loved was the message on the back of the fries pack – “Drug Use Is Life Abuse”.  In a country plagued with drug abuse, it’s refreshing to see a company taking even little steps to prevent it.

After chowing down on some greasy, messy, DELICIOUS fast food, we headed to our grand destination – the Robotic Dinosaur Museum!  Little Man as so excited and even found a dinosaur shaped cloud en route!! LOL As we pulled into the parking lot, Little Man was shaking with excitement.  We jumped out of the car and ran to the entrance.  After grabbing a few pictures and paying admission, we headed to the indoor section first.  There, we found a gift shop in the center of the room and a bunch of robotic dinosaurs along the surrounding walls.
After checking out all the moving dinosaurs {sorry guys, I forgot my Flip was in the car so I didn’t record any videos}, Little Man decided to go for a ride on the long neck!  At first, he was afraid and wanted right back off, but he quickly adjusted to it.  His joy lasted just long enough for me to catch a picture of him cheesishly smiling.

Next, we were off to the outdoor section of the museum.  We immediately noticed the large gem panning station and HAD to try!  Little Man had a blast scooping up the sand and sifting out the colored stones {for $7-$10 more, you can get a bag from the souvenir shop filled with dirt, gems, and fossils that you can sift and take home with you!}.

While I was buying our admission tickets, the nice cashier mentioned that if Little Man found a “fossil” {rocks with dinosaur names on them}, he would get a free price from the baskets in the front of the store.  We dried our hands and headed for the sandy “Dino Dig.”  Unfortunately, Little Man quickly gave up and I was forced to find my own fossil.  Of course, I handed it right over to the Little Punk so he could go claim his prize.  He eventually decided on an orange and yellow dino finger puppet.

Now it was time to see the rest of the park!  We’d barely made it half way into the area at this point, though we’d pretty much done all the activities.  We walked around, checking out the dinosaurs and taking a few pictures.

That’s when we came across the giant T-Rex!  We climbed and climbed… eventually coming to the inside of its head.  I am not too proud to say I freaked out! LOL  My anxiety and fear of heights kicked in and I began to hyperventilate! XD  I clung to the railing as Daddy and Grandma took Little Man to the top.  I will warn visitors, this part felt very unsafe!!  We were extremely high up, unsupervised, and in an old, worn structure.  Little Man and Daddy had fun, but I doubt we’ll be doing this part again.

Since the giant dino was the end of the trail, we went back the way we came in and grabbed some more pictures.  Overall, we had a blast!   Yes, the park was kind of cheesy, but my 3-year-old loved it!  Next time we go, we will definitely be bringing a picnic since there’s an area inside the park that allows you to sit down and eat in the shade.  You can also host parties and gatherings there so it’s a candidate for Little Man’s 3rd birthday party.  That’s still far off, though, so we’ll just have to see. =D

To view all of the pictures I took during our adventure, please visit my Facebook page and find the picture folder labeled “Robotic Dinosaur Museum Pictures – May 2011“.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Activity Pack

Last night was the grand release of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides!  Did anyone dare the crowded theaters to see it?  Since my little one is only 3, I dare not take him to the a packed theater, but I’m very anxious to go see it as soon as the lines shorten.  ;)

My giveaway may be over, but you can still check out the awesome trailer HERE.  The folks at Disney have also sent me a great activity pack for youngsters!!  They’re a lot of fun for any pirate in your household! :P

Time to take advantage of those low home prices!

In this rough economy, buying a home may not be in the cards for all, but there are a select few out there taking advantage of the numerous low-costing homes on the market right now.  If you’ve got the right credit, you’ve got way more options for financial assistance like VA Loans.  With experts trained to find you the best possible loan, they’re a great start if you’re in the market for a new home!

There is also an option for those who already own a home and are looking for refinance!  Companies like FHA Streamline Refinance have professionals available that can help you get those monthly payments lower on your existing home loan.  With money being so tight these days, I think we would all love to lower our mortgage payment and put that savings towards other bills {or a fun family event!}.

Whether you’re looking for a new home loan or would just like to refinance the one you have, it’s definitely a “buyers market” and you’re sure to find something you love out there.  With prices low because of the recession we’re experiencing, buying a new home has never been funner! =D

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Okay, technically there is still a couple more days until Daddy’s birthday, but it’s right around the corner, nonetheless.  I know that men are usually pretty hard to buy for, but I got lucky – Daddy is pretty vocal about what he wants and this year, he wanted Dr. Dre’s new album, Detox.  Unfortunately, this hasn’t released yet. I’m going to get the singles they’ve released on iTunes, but I’m honestly still at a loss at what else to get him!

Since he’s like any typical male I’ve been around, he does enjoy fun gifts – like ones found at EdenFantasys!  Whether you’re looking for a fun gag gift or something that your husband will actually use, you’re sure to find something that will suit every need or fantasy! =D

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys store

What great Gardeners may not know!

Guest Posting by Bobby Quill

Gardeners would not consider replacing their beautiful lawns by installing a synthetic lawn turf.  They want their gardens to be, look, and feel real.  The beauty of their garden is a testament to all their hard work and effort and can complement the beauty of their homes.  They are also spending a lot of time and money while also putting their gardens at further risk of a weed infestation when not considering installing a! rtificia l residential turf.
It is difficult to have a separation of grass and garden while their edges line one another.  Most grass will try and extend into gardens around them taking away precious nutrients and water in the soil killing flowers, roses, or vegetables.  Lining these sections of a garden with synthetic lawn can reduce the chances of weeds spreading.  There are different selections to choose from when considering artificial turf, so it is easy to find one that will match the lawn
Lining these areas can help reduce the chances of a natural grass seeping in, but it cannot prevent it 100 percent.  To near that number though one would need to replace their lawn with artificial turf. It looks similar to regular grass, so no one will notice, and it can allow gardeners to stay more focused on taking care of their roses.  Also with no grass around there is an even less likely chance of a weed infestation.
Having a real good looking lawn is great, but it is only complimentary when compared to a wonderful rose garden.  That type of garden can only be obtained with a significant amount of time and effort, and one of the best ways to get that time back is by having an artificial lawn so there is no more worry of a weed infestation or lawn cultivation.

A Fond Look Back

As Little Man grows older, I can’t help to think back to the past 4 years.  I think the moment that it all really “sunk in” {meaning that I was soon to have little bundle of responsibility of my own} was at my baby shower.  To have all of my friends and family there, nobody arguing or fighting, just relaxing and enjoying themselves meant the world to me.  We all met at a family member’s restaurant and enjoyed games, laughter, and delicious foods!

One of the funnest times I had was during the present opening.  Everyone gathered in one meeting room and cracked jokes as I opened my presents and showed off all the cute tiddliwinks and baby toys.  One present that surely caused a storm was the stroller an uncle got me.  Why?  Because my god-mother got me the same one!  Granted, they weren’t like the Eddie Bauer Travel System my cousin got for her son the year before, but it was a really nice stroller and both had something to say about who’s I should keep and who’s I should take back!  LOL

Moments like this are rare.  I would like to say I can foresee another time where all of my loved ones can gather in a room and bond over something other than Kissy Kissy baby clothes and chocolate filled diapers, but I’m not sure there’s going to be one in the near future.  However long it takes for us to reunite, though, I’ll always have the fond memories of my first baby shower.  =D

Pirates of the Caribbean Giveaway

Vedette Shapewear Review & GIVEAWAY

When you’ve got a little extra curvature like I do, you’re constantly looking for ways to “hide” those extra pounds.  The most popular method is to wear bigger clothes.  More often than not, though, this actually makes you look bigger!  You want to be able to wear those form-fitting clothes and show off those sexy curves!

For this reason, I was ecstatic to get to try the Jaqui by Vedette Shapewear!  I’ve tried corsets before, but none as well-designed as this one!  The double hook-and-eye front enclosures makes it easy to get on.  The corset goes under your bra line so you can use your own bras!  I’ve found that built-in cups don’t usually provide as much support as what’s needed so it’s nice to be able to use bras that you’ve already found give you the needed support.  I will say, the design does allow for a little extra “lift”.  LOL

Over-all, I really do love this corset.  It’s the prefect length so that it doesn’t ride up {which I’ve had happen before!} and seems to tuck everything away nice and neat to hide those bulges usually found when I wear form-fitting clothes.  I’ve worn it out in public and alone with friends – I can say with confidence that nobody noticed I was wearing anything underneath!  =D

Click below to check out how they’re able to keep these corsets so comfortable and strong:

How would you like to win a Vedette garment of your own?  Well they’ve given me the go-ahead to offer THREE {3} readers a Vedette garment of their very own!  While the design is up to Vedette {winners will need to provide their sizes}, you’re sure to love anything you get!  All of their garments are very well made and provide necessary support where you need it most =D  To enter, please complete the mandatory entry below {this must be completed or none of your entries will count!}:

A Visit From the Kids

Guest post written by Jan Dowell

In just a few weeks, my grandkids are going to be able to come visit me in Tennessee again. This is their first year away at college, and it feels like I haven’t seen them in forever. My two granddaughters are coming back home to stay with their parents, and that means they will see me, as well. Fortunately, I only live a block or two from my son and daughter-in-law. I’ve been talking with my son, and we have already started to make dinner plans for a night when the girls are going to be home. My husband and I cannot wait to see them, it’s been so long since we’ve been able to dote on them and give them our love.
I’m glad that I just purchased Hearing Aids Test around. My hearing is better now, and I will be able to really catch up with the girls. So much is going on in their busy lives, and I can’t wait to hear their impressions of college. I miss my girls greatly, and my husband and I are counting down the days until our family can be reunited for a little while.
